IN OUR SCHOOL...
SCHOOL RECESS, Monday, January 18: NO SCHOOL (Martin Luther King Day). We look forward to seeing everyone back in-person and in our fully virtual classrooms on Tuesday, January 19!
Staff back-to-school "Thank You" breakfast, Tuesday, January 19: The PTA is grateful to all the teachers and staff who made an unexpected and graceful pivot to remote learning last week, and who continue to work through tremendous uncertainty, keeping our children safe and excited to learn. Through the incredible generosity of local, Manorhaven family-owned business, Bagel Time, a light, grab-and-go breakfast will be offered in the APR on Tuesday morning to help our wonderful staff get a fresh start back at school.
Manorhaven Car Line Begins, Wednesday, January 20: On Wednesday, January 20, the dismissal car line will begin, and will dismiss alphabetically from 2:30pm-2:45pm. If you registered to pick up your child by drive-thru car line, a color-coded windshield sign and pick-up instructions will be sent home with your child on Tuesday. Cars without a window sign will not be allowed to enter the car line, and parents may not begin lining up for the car line before 2:25pm. Additional staff will be on-site to help manage this process. Parking in the Manorhaven lot and along the stretch of curb by the new playground/USPS mailbox remains prohibited. Questions? Email Dr. Cohen.
AIS Virtual Open House, Wednesday, January 20, 7:00pm: If your child receives Academic Intervention Services (AIS), join Dr. Cohen and Manorhaven reading and math teachers for a mid-year check-in and information session. Additional meeting information and log-in will be provided by your child's AIS teachers.
Volunteer Opportunity! Join the team of Manorhaven Covid Helpers (en Español): As Covid continues to surge, the PTA's Outreach Committee recognizes that many in our school community may not have the local support networks to manage through this difficult time. You can help! Sign up to be a Manorhaven Covid Helper and volunteer a small amount of your time to run quick errands for quarantined families. Simple acts of kindness--from picking up a prescription to dropping off essential groceries--could mean the world to a Manorhaven parent who cannot leave the home. Learn more about how the program will work and sign up HERE (en Español).
Daily Health Screening Reminder: We continue to see COVID numbers rise in our town and county. Please be sure to fill out the health screening daily, prior to your child entering the building. If your family travels outside the five contiguous states, or if any member of your household tested positive for Covid-19 or is in quarantine, you are required to inform the school as soon as possible and follow the appropriate health protocols (see the NYS Department of Health's travel guidelines, and direct any questions to Dr. Cohen). If your family is required to quarantine due to recent travel, or if you are awaiting COVID test results, you may request livestreaming for your child. Please make every effort to provide at least 24-hours notice for livestream requests. All family health updates, livestream requests and questions about school protocols should be directed to Dr. Cohen.
2021 Kindergarten Registration: If you have a student entering Kindergarten at Manorhaven in September 2021, please review the guidelines (en Español) for Kindergarten registration, download the registration packet (en Español), and contact Central Registration (516-767-5470) for further instruction on submitting your registration. Mark your calendar for Manorhaven Kindergarten Orientation on June 3, 2021 at 9:00am!
Manorhaven Eats! (en Español): Great deals and partnerships on delicious deliveries throughout our community! Questions? Contact Melissa Arker.
