ABOUT THE PTA
WHO WE ARE
The Manorhaven PTA is an organization of parents, teachers and administrators dedicated to enriching the academic, cultural and social lives of our students and community. We a chapter of the New York State PTA. You can review our proposed unit bylaws HERE (to be voted on at the PTA meeting on February 26, 2021).
WHAT WE DO
The PTA works hard to keep you informed about what's happening in our school, district and broader community, and to build an inclusive school community by organizing or supporting fun events and activities.
Through active fundraising, the PTA helps to fund enrichment programs such as Cultural Studies Week, Cultural Arts assemblies and author visits, field trips, and extracurricular clubs such as the STEM Club, Chess Club and Yoga Club. The PTA also invests in new classroom technology, such as iPads and Chromebooks, and last year spearheaded the campaign to build Manorhaven's beautiful new playground.
The Manorhaven PTA is a member of the New York State and National PTAs. On the state and national level, the PTA works to improve funding and educational standards for our children.
HOW TO GET INVOLVED

HOW TO GET INVOLVED
The PTA welcomes all parents to participate in their children's school experience. There are many ways to get involved, including:
- Joining a committee and volunteering at schoolwide or classroom events
- Becoming a PTA member and participating in PTA meetings
- Contributing your special skills or interests to specific events throughout the year
- Serving as a bilingual language liaison to support the translation and interpretation needs of our diverse community
- Serving as a Class Parent Coordinator, the liaison between families and your child's classroom teacher (applications available in May)
- Serving on the school's Compact Committee, a group of parent and faculty representatives committed to cooperative planning and shared decision making on issues affecting our children's education (learn more: English, en Español, 日本語; submit Online nomination: English, en Español, 日本語).
- Serving on the PTA Executive Board, to support the PTA's leadership decision-making on strategy, operations and funding.
